Minnie Adkins (b. 1934) and Garland Adkins (1928 - 1997)

Minnie and Garland Adkins are among the best known artists from Kentucky.  Minnie paints Bible scenes and carves animal figures, especially red foxes, bears, possums, roosters, and tigers.  Garland helped create the pieces, roughing out and drying the wood before Minnie finished the carving and painting.
